This year's Upper Winter Play is a departure from our usual practice of producing published scripts written by adult professional playwrights. So . . . the 2024 Upper Winter Play is entitled JUST A BUNCH OF STARS, a new original play written by Seven Hills senior Mikul Wyer, and directed by Seven Hills senior Susie Stahl. This production is 100% STUDENT-CREATED AND STUDENT-DIRECTED. In fact, the producing of A BUNCH OF STARS as a part of our Upper Main Stage Season is Mikul Wyer's challenge project! So - this production is not a hypothetical - it is an actual creation and mounting of a full-length stage play. The ultimate goal of what we do is to put students behind the wheel, and allow them to get the first-hand experience of creating and realizing a stage production!
Performances are: Friday, 2/2 and Saturday, 2/3 at 7:30pm in Schiff room 102 - the Upper Theatre Classroom, right off the Schiff Center lobby.
*rated 14+ for language and content.
Here's a bit about Mikul Wyer's JUST A BUNCH OF STARS:
The story revolves around a group of longtime friends that slowly disintegrates over the course of one night at a 1932 New York City speakeasy. Tensions rise as the evening wears on, the characters each fixating on their futures and attempting to avoid the past and present.
